You give the command but your pet does the damage, so the threat is given to your pet, not you. It's exactly like having Growl on manual and activating it on your own,

I just got this ability a couple days ago, and I'm absolutely loving it. From what I've seen, KC's threat goes onto my pet, but I'm not sure. All I know is my cat seems to be holding aggro a lot better. Before KC, if I got a crit before my pet had enough time to build enough agro, the baddie would make a bee-line for my throat. Now, I crit, my spammable SS macro makes sure KC goes off within the next couple seconds, and the baddie doesn't go anywhere. However, I'd like to be sure, and I've been unable to dig up any theorycraft
or stats about this.
